Doping is defined as one or several breaches of the anti-doping rules laid down in the world anti-doping code issued in March 2003.

This codes lists substance that can be dangerous if used by sportsmen and women as well as the actions that constitute or lead to doping conduct, whether by sportsmen and women or members of their coaching team.
The use of doping substances is not without its dangers for sportsmen and women, quite the contrary!
Some products (cocaine, ecstasy, heroine, etc.) lead to major physical and/or psychological dependence in their users. Others are drugs (EPO, growth hormone, insulin, etc.) for which excessive consumption and/or distortion of the basic indications for use lead to negative side effects for the body.

A few examples

Stimulants : carry the same risks as all substances acting on the mind (nervousness, aggressiveness, cardiovascular problems, etc.).
Androgenic steroids and other anabolics : lead to masculine characteristics in women (virilisation) and can cause problems of libido, aggression, ruptured tendons, etc.
Peptide and assimilated hormones : their use leads to internal physiological deregulation with harmful short and long term consequences.
Diuretics : lead to a state of dehydration.

The fight against doping is aimed above all to protect the health of sportsmen and women. It's a matter of warning them of the dangers they are incurring, in the short, medium and long terms, associated with taking doping products.
As stated above, these substances can lead to some significant disturbances of the body, such as cardiovascular problems, hormonal deregulation, etc. and a kind of dependence is created in the body for the products taken.

Fighting against doping also means retaining a certain sporting ethic. Sport conveys ethical, cultural and social values. It's a tool for education, socialisation and integration.

But the economic interests associated with heavy media coverage that is increasingly invading sports events and creating not insignificant pressures for sportsmen and women, whether they are at the highest level or quite simply want "to perform like the best".

All the reasons that push sportsmen and women to take drugs :

Contrary to the ethical values conveyed by sport that has to ensure an equal chance of success for everyone, and above all generating health problems in sportsmen and women who must, on the other hand, have an excellent state of health.
